in theory, a sophisticated enough control voltage source can replace all control voltage generators in a modular system. that includes saw, square, pulse, triangle lfos, ar, ad, adsr, multistage envelopes,
tracking generators, quantizers and of course sequencers.
it is not practical to actually replace all of these with one module type, but the verbos electronics voltage multistage can create all of these control voltage types.
as a sequencer, it has switchable slides and gates on each stage enabling acid type patterns. when a stage is set to "on" the "a" channel puts out it's cv and the "gate out" puts out a gate for the first 1/3
of the stage. when the switch is set to "off" the gate stays low and "cv a" stays as it was on the previous stage. if the stage is set to "slide" the gate stays on for the whole stage and the voltage at "cv a"
slides from where it was to the setting of the slider over the course of the stage. if the sequence is advanced by an external pulse rather than the internal clock, the "time" control sets the slide length and
the gate length in the "on" mode.
as a multistage envelope, any stage can be the sustain by plugging it's gate out into the "sustain" input. as long as the gate at the "start" input is high, this stage will not advance. this gate should be
multed into "strobe" as well, to make the envelope restart on a key press.
"time" can be voltage controlled through a reversing attenuator, often with "cv b" patched into it, allowing slider row b to control the stage's time.
a stage output patched into the "enable" input allows the clock to run only when the "start" input is high. this can be used to make lfos or sequences that only run while a key is held.
the "ref." output is a falling ramp the length of the entire stage. this is usable as a decay only envelope when using the module as a sequencer.
when the "strobe" input is pulsed, the setting of the "analog" control and cv input selects the stage. this is usable as a reset or to jump to any specific stage of the sequencer. if the "strobe" button is
pushed, the stage is selected. if the button is held, the "strobe" will latch open, turning the led on. the stage can then be actively selected from cv and the analog control. the module can then act as a
quantizer.
